In order to innovate and to create or support new initiatives linked to the Amazon bioeconomy, it is essential to attend events related to the sector, such as the recently held BioBusiness Pará.

BioBusiness Pará was held at Estação das Docas, a dockside venue in Belém, Pará, on March 16. It brought together stakeholders in the Amazonian bioeconomy ecosystem, including Fundo Vale. The aim was to create an innovative environment where players in the areas of production, investment, marketing, research, government and civil society could interact.

Fundo Vale’s director, Patrícia Daros, and its partnerships leader, Márcia Soares, were present. After all, our goal is to stay up to date with discussions on the bioeconomy, especially in the state of Pará, where Fundo Vale supports several initiatives to promote this agenda, including a strategic partnership with the Amazon Journey (through the CERTI Foundation).

“In our view, events like this, which connect entrepreneurs to investors, are essential to strengthen the bioeconomy ecosystem in the Amazon. Fundo Vale has supported many initiatives in this regard,” she says.

About BioBusiness Pará

This initiative is a legacy of the World Bioeconomy Forum, held in the state in 2021. It is organized by the Pará State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability in partnership with the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (IPAM) and the Brazilian Micro and Small Enterprise Support Service (SEBRAE).

This was the second edition of the event, which brought together an average of 200 representatives of sectors related to the Amazon bioeconomy, to share experiences and highlight initiatives and opportunities. One new feature of the second edition was a contest to support new bio-businesses and the development of bio-inputs. Held by the Pará State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability, this contest is aimed at:

· startups;

· rural producers;

· local communities;

· indigenous peoples;

· associations;

· cooperatives;

· micro and small enterprises.
