Held by Quintessa with support from Fundo Vale and partners, the initiative aims to map and accelerate technologies to support Brazil’s target of restoring 12 million hectares by 2030

Organizations with innovative solutions for the productive forest restoration chain have until March 19 to register for the “Restoration ClimAccelerator – Innovations for Brazil to Achieve Its 2030 Restoration Goal” program. This initiative seeks to map and accelerate technologies to overcome forest restoration bottlenecks, promoting efficiency, effectiveness and the inclusion of local communities.
Led by Quintessa, the program is financed by Fundo Vale, the Amazon Investor Coalition, the Institute for Climate and Society and the Itaúsa Institute. Its partners also include Climate KIC and ClimAccelerator.
The selected innovations will receive tailored support to address adoption and market access challenges, as well as direct engagement with key climate agenda stakeholders and potential investment opportunities at the end of the program.

The selected participants will be announced on April 11, and activities are scheduled to run from April 16 to October 3. Between five and 10 startups will be chosen for either a customized model (up to five startups) or a low-touch model (up to 10 startups). The selection process will involve the executor, co-financiers, technical partners and other supporters of the restoration chain, as determined by the organizing team.
“Fundo Vale supports this program because it believes that unlocking the restoration chain is essential to accelerate the bioeconomy and drive more sustainable and inclusive development. Aligned with our 2030 Theory of Change, the program strengthens innovative solutions that address real challenges involving productive forest restoration, promoting sustainable land use, climate resilience and income generation for local communities,” said Gustavo Luz, Fundo Vale’s director.
About the program
The Brazilian government has committed to restoring 12 million hectares of forest by 2030 – a crucial target for reducing emissions, protecting biodiversity and promoting a more sustainable economy. However, as of 2023, only 0.68% of this target had been achieved, according to the Brazilian Restoration and Reforestation Observatory.
Designed through interviews with Brazil’s top restorers and a global partnership with European climate innovation agency Climate KIC, the program tackles challenges across the restoration chain, from land tenure reform and machinery solutions to monitoring of forest fires, soil, water and carbon.
This collaboration between Fundo Vale, the Amazon Investor Coalition, the Institute for Climate and Society and the Itaúsa Institute underscores restoration’s role in building a more sustainable, inclusive and resilient Brazil. By scaling technological innovations, the program will accelerate progress toward the 12-million-hectare goal while strengthening an ecosystem of solutions that promote positive impacts on the environment, the economy and local communities.
