A report published by China’s largest news and information agency looked at Belterra’s São Francisco ranch and reported that this project, financed by Vale, is helping restore degraded pasture land. The article included statements by Valmir Ortega, the founder of Belterra, and photos of the ranch.

The reporter traveled to Pará at the invitation of Vale’s Corporate Press Relations Department, along with six other journalists affiliated with Chinese media outlets. This was part of celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Vale’s relationship with China. The aim was to show journalists how Vale reconciles its mining operations with conservation of the Amazon Rainforest.
