Launched during 2024 New York Climate Week, the platform currently has more than 800 users, representing over 300,000 hectares 

Developed with technical and financial support from Fundo Vale, Courageous Land’s Agroforestry Intelligence Platform won the Innovate for Nature (I4N) Award during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The award recognizes innovative solutions that generate positive impacts for nature, accelerating connections between entrepreneurs, capital and global partners. More than 400 companies submitted entries to compete for the prize. 

Courageous Land’s solution stands out for offering an integrated platform that helps transform degraded land into agroforestry systems, generating income for farmers and landowners while contributing to companies’ and investors’ climate and biodiversity goals. 

Technology advancing productive restoration 

Agroforestry is recognized as a powerful solution to restore ecosystems, increase productivity and strengthen climate resilience. However, its large-scale implementation still faces challenges such as operational complexity, limited technical assistance, logistical and market barriers, fragmented execution and a lack of reliable data to enable financing and verification of results. 

To overcome these barriers, Courageous Land, in partnership with Fundo Vale, developed the Agroforestry Intelligence Platform, which operates under a full-stack model for a growing network of farms. The solution combines: 

• software for agroforestry diagnostics, planning and management; 

• financing and market access, connecting agroforestry projects to capital and product and carbon markets; 

• an implementation network, featuring certified Courageous Land professionals who support the deployment and ongoing management of agroforestry systems. 

The platform currently has more than 800 users, representing over 300,000 hectares. Courageous Land is a certified B Corp and works in partnership with farmers, investors and major companies such as Vale, Vita Coco, Ambev and Salesforce. 

Strategic partnership with Fundo Vale 

Technical and financial support from Fundo Vale was decisive in strengthening the platform’s development and consolidation. The partnership contributes to expanding the scalability of agroforestry and generating positive social and environmental impact—objectives aligned with the implementation strategy of Vale’s 2030 Forest Goal, the mining company’s voluntary commitment to restore and protect 500,000 hectares of forest outside its operating sites.
