In future, positive impacts will not merely be a goal, but a condition for the existence of businesses.
In this new context, Brazil can become a global leader in bioeconomics. By creating innovative financial mechanisms and strengthening businesses with positive social and environmental impacts, Vale Fund can help contribute to this change.

)
For 10 years, we have been helping to build a new economic reality by investing in business development, knowledge generation and financial arrangements aimed at preserving and restoring the Amazon. We are now expanding our activities to other Brazilian biomes.
In a collaborative way, we strengthen communities, traditional peoples, farmers and entrepreneurs, so they can make a living from sustainable production. We are driven by the belief that Brazil may be recognized as a great power in bioeconomics.

Promoting sustainability means investing in the future

We implement big ideas
We support initiatives that foster innovative business models and rethink ways of doing things, as well as financial arrangements and instruments to allow large-scale sustainable economies. What do these things have in common? Our commitment to generate positive impacts on the environment and people’s lives.

We always work together
Our work depends on collaboration. We are part of an ecosystem made up of many players, from investment funds and entrepreneurs to local communities and Vale employees.

We aim for concrete results
Just as our decisions are based on objective analysis, hard data and people’s experience of everyday problems, the initiatives and businesses we support are also committed to measuring their impact.

We are here to
promote a more sustainable, fairer and inclusive economy.

Conexsus Social and Environmental Fund
Created by the Conexsus Institute, this fund catalyzes investments for community businesses associated with value chains that improve land use and prevent deforestation. In addition to loans, beneficiaries receive a package of non-financial benefits, such as mentoring, advice and actions for networking and accessing markets.
PPA Acceleration Program
Incubation and acceleration program for impact businesses that operate in the Amazon. It is the biggest business accelerator in the region, having invested approximately US$ 1,2 million and accelerated 30 businesses that preserve the forest. It supports startups in various areas such as financial and administrative management, as well as promoting opportunities for cooperation in logistics and market access.
Logistics and Commercialization Lab
This initiative by Climate Ventures Institute seeks to unlock logistical and commercial barriers to leverage products based on the Amazon’s social and biological diversity. The lab is a structured innovation and co-creation space for prototyping and testing solutions that can boost the region’s bioeconomy.
Apuí Coffee
Forty families are growing the first organic coffee in the Amazon in agroforestry systems, protecting 50 hectares of reforested areas. So far, the families’ income has grown 300%. Vale Fund supports a hybrid financing model that seeks to strengthen these businesses, structuring access to other credit lines to increase the production scale.
Latimpacto
This Latin American venture philanthropy network promotes the exchange of knowledge regarding innovative and effective management, measurement and financing tools, facilitating connections and stimulating collaboration and co-investment. Working with philanthropists and social investors, it mobilizes more human, intellectual and financial capital for high-impact ecosystems.
Strengthening of High-Impact Ecosystems
This partnership with the Corporate Citizenship Institute (ICE) is designed to strengthen the ecosystem involving investments and businesses with positive social and environmental impacts, through a virtuous cycle of more capital, more structured businesses to be invested in, stronger intermediary organizations and better educated professionals.
Vale Forestry Goal
One of the sustainability goals announced by Vale as part of the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals is to restore and protect 500,000 hectares of degraded areas and forests outside the company’s sites. Fundo Vale is collaborating with this objective, stimulating a restoration productive chain that generates income and food security for local communities and establishes new, low-carbon land use models in a sustainable way.
Agroforestry Challenge
Through a partnership between Vale Fund, Vale Natural Reserve and Troposlab, we launched a contest in 2020 to map businesses and innovative solutions involving agroforestry systems, in order to contribute to Vale’s sustainability goals and promote a green economy. We received 69 applicants, 15 ideas have been pre-accelerated and six projects have been accelerated, generating more than 100 significant connections and identifying agroforestry system production chain gaps.
