Between May 11 and 14, Fundo Vale, Palladium, a company that supports the management of the habitat restoration component of Vale’s 2030 Forest Goal, and a team from Caaporã, an impact business that is implementing agro-silvopastoral systems with Fundo Vale’s support, carried out a technical visit to a site implemented by Caaporã in 2021 and 2022.

During the visit to the site, which covers more than 2,000 hectares in Barra, Bahia, the importance of investing in sustainable projects in this region, which faces great pressure for agricultural expansion, became clear. We also had the opportunity to exchange experiences with Caaporã, assess the impacts reported by the business, appraise the quality of the site’s recovery and discuss the possibility of expanding the project to other regions.

Caaporã is also testing different species adapted to the Caatinga shrublands on its pastureland, which has the potential to reduce the use of irrigation and fertilizers. In this way, it will be possible to sustainably boost production in the region.
