Space will be open for visits during COP30, as a showcase for economic, environmental and social solutions for sustainable development

In the run-up to COP30, the Amazon Bioeconomy and Innovation Park has just been opened in Belém. It is the largest hub of its kind in Latin America and the only technology park in the world dedicated to the forest bioeconomy. The R$300 million venture is the result of a partnership between the state government of Pará and mining company Vale.
During the opening ceremony, sponsorship agreements were signed with Fundo Vale, cosmetics group Natura and environmental management company Ambipar, reinforcing the commitment of multiple sectors to a new economic paradigm for the Amazon. During COP30, the park will be open as a showcase for solutions developed in the region, expanding links between science, innovation, traditional knowledge and markets.
Located in warehouses 5 and 6 at Belém’s Porto Futuro II site and covering 6,000 square meters, the space was designed to be a leading center for research, production and entrepreneurship linked to social and biological diversity. The hub includes a Business Center focused on supporting more than 200 startups that are working with the bioeconomy and the sustainable use of forest inputs. The space also houses a Fabrication Laboratory equipped with pilot production lines for foods and cosmetics, allowing community enterprises to develop and test new products derived from Amazonian biodiversity.
According to Fundo Vale director Patrícia Daros, this facility is an unprecedented step forward for the Brazilian bioeconomy. “The park is a coordinated effort to cement the region as a leader in research, adding value to forest products and sustainable business models. It is a venture aligned with our strategy of connecting science, productive sectors and traditional communities to promote the sustainable use of resources on a large scale, generating benefits for the economy and for the Amazon’s protection,” she said.
