Event reinforces the region’s role as a leading force in the global climate agenda and creates space for diverse voices to jointly shape the next steps toward a fairer, more sustainable and regenerative future

Belém is preparing to once again take center stage in the global climate debate. From June 29 to July 4, 2026, the city will host the Second Amazon Climate Week, the first major international climate gathering to be held in the state capital of Pará since COP30. Sponsored by Vale and free to attend, the event aims to keep alive the agenda built during the Conference of the Parties and reaffirm the Amazon as the epicenter of climate solutions from the Global South.

Among the central objectives of the 2026 edition are monitoring the commitments made during COP30, connecting global and Amazonian leaders, attracting new investment, and strengthening the presence of youth, women and Indigenous peoples at the center of climate decision-making.

The 2026 edition will be organized around two main components:

  • Official program, on June 29 and 30, at the Amazon Bioeconomy and Innovation Park;
  • Self-organized events, on July 1, 2 and 3, at different venues across Belém.

Strategic priorities for the future of the forest

The Second Amazon Climate Week will be structured around six thematic pillars from the COP30 Action Agenda, considered strategic for the future of the forest and humanity. The first will focus on post-COP30 commitments and the related “Roadmaps,” with discussions on a just energy transition, the phaseout of fossil fuels, climate adaptation and cooperation among tropical forests.

Another pillar will focus on regenerative economies and the social bioeconomy, with discussions on nature-based solutions, forest restoration, biodiversity value chains and climate finance. The event will also include discussions on land rights, the leadership of youth and Indigenous peoples, combating environmental racism and strengthening citizenship. In addition, the program will feature panels on science, innovation and the impacts of climate change on health.

“Climate Week will bring together experiences that are already transforming the reality of the Amazon. By placing bioeconomy initiatives, restoration projects, land rights agendas and innovation in health and science side by side, the event creates an environment in which people can see the full chain of climate action—from local realities to public policy, from communities to global governance,” says Márcia Soares, Fundo Vale’s Amazon and partnerships manager.

The idea is for Climate Week to become an annual event, expanding to other states in the Brazilian Amazon and strengthening an ongoing agenda of mobilization, dialogue and solution-building rooted in local communities.

The 2026 edition is sponsored by Vale and Hydro. The event also brings together a broad network of co-organizers, including Afya, ASSOBIO, the BRC Biodiversity Research Consortium, Certi, CESUPA, Cojovem, the National Council of Extractive Communities (CNS), the Interstate Consortium for Sustainable Development of the Brazilian Amazon, CONTAG, Embrapa, Emergent, FIEPA, the Pará state government and its Environment Secretariat, the Institute for Climate and Society (ICS), the Democracy and Sustainability Institute (IDS), the Ethos Institute, the Peabiru Institute, IPAM Amazônia, the Synchronicity Institute, the Vale Institute of Technology (ITV), the Emílio Goeldi Museum, Natura, the Amazon Bioeconomy and Innovation Park, the Partners for the Amazon Platform, the municipal government of Belém, the Forest Guardians Project, the Health and Happiness Project, the Amazon Working Group Network, Saint-Gobain, the Cooperation for the Amazon movement, Hydro and Vale.
